Viking Pendant Freeform - VB47

Viking Pendant from a Russian Viking find.

There’s something I really like about small Viking pendants. They weren’t always grand pieces of jewelry meant to impress everyone in the room. Sometimes they were simply small, personal objects—worn close to the body and carrying a meaning known mainly to the person wearing them.

This little free-form pendant is a good example. Its irregular shape gives it a handmade, almost spontaneous character. It looks like something a Viking might have picked up, shaped, and decided was worth wearing.

I’ve always liked jewelry like this. It doesn’t have to shout “Viking.” Sometimes the simplest pieces tell the most interesting stories.
