Saxon Square-Headed Bow Brooch - TB12

This bow brooch is based on a 6th Century Anglo-Saxon brooch in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Bow brooches were worn by Germanic peoples like the Goths, Franks, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings and were influenced by late Roman fibulae brooches. Each new Saxon invasion brought new designs from Europe into England by the conquerors.

Cast in bronze, this piece is also available with a silver-plated or blackened silver-plated finish. This brooch has a steel pin for strength.

Measures 4-3/4" x 2-1/4" (11 cm x 5.7 cm)
