Horse Buckle
A late Roman Buckle featuring a horse design. Roman horses were small by modern standards, about the size of a pony or small horse. The lack of stirrups also played a major part in how Romans used horses in warfare. They were used as skirmishers rather than in cavalry charges of the Later Middle Ages.
