Roman round brooch RB43
I really like these small Roman brooches. At first glance, it’s a pretty simple little round brooch, but the lined design gives it just enough decoration to make it interesting.
The Romans were very good at making useful things look good. A brooch like this would have helped hold a cloak or piece of clothing together, while also adding a little bit of personal style.
It’s not a huge, elaborate piece of jewelry—and that’s part of its appeal to me. Sometimes the everyday pieces tell us more about how people actually lived than the fancy stuff ever could.
